In regard to granting a Beer -Wine License to the proposed Deli, the following opinions were expressed: Two persons were in favor of a Beer -Wine License, however, did not favor a tavern or carry -out liquor store on the premises. Ten persons contacted supported the granting of a Beer -Wine License, even to the extent of allowing patrons to purchase such for carry -out purposes. Other residents, however, expressed the concern that a carry -out business would attract a problem element into the neighborhood, i.e., "bums ". We wish to thank the Redevelopment Commission for requesting our input regarding these issues. The Neighbors -s. Kolata stated that the Monroe Park �ighbors were presented a summary of the Zree bids received for the L. Keen building Lving them the information of each proposal zbmitted. Mrs. Kolata stated that the staff recommendation to the Commission is that the bid be awarded to Colonial Food Service. A though the bid is not the highest dollar amount there are a number of advantages to the proposal. The use of the property being a deli/gourmet shop on the first level and private meeting /conference rooms with food and verage services on the second level would be a direct benefit not only to the businesses, industry and residents of Monroe Park but to e general community as well. It would be bringing people into the neighborhood either for the deli or the use of the meeting rooms. Second it is the only non - speculative proposal. Colonial Food Service would be the d user of the property. With the other two proposals, the end user is not defined at this int. The proposed renovation by Colonial a pears to be the most period oriented in -10-
