South Bend Pedevelopment. Commission <br />Regular Me ting - October 28, 1983 <br />6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.) <br />7. <br />g. uoquinuea... <br />Mrs. Kolata stated that four bids were <br />received on October 17, 1983 regarding the L. <br />Keen Building in Monroe Park. The bids were <br />in three stages - roofing, masonry <br />restoration, and structural framing. The <br />first bid from Podell was incomplete and <br />rejected. The second bid was from Midland <br />Engineering who bid $16,800 for roofing, <br />$24,197 for masonry, and $1,628 for structural <br />franing, or a combined bid of $42,635 if we <br />were to accept all three. The next bid was <br />fran Kaser- Spraker who bid $14,700 for <br />roofing, $24,600 for masonry, and $5,400 for <br />str.ictural framing, or a combined bid of <br />$39,586. The last bid was from Slatile who <br />bid $8,225 on roofing and $14,400 on masonry. <br />Mrs Kolata explained that after the bids were <br />received Mathews - Purucker - Anella, the <br />architects for the project, received a letter <br />from Slatile indicating that they had made a <br />mistake on both of their bids. They stated <br />that they omitted the sheet metal price on the <br />roofing bid and they had improperly transfered <br />the estimate on the masonry to the bid <br />domments. They asked that their bid be <br />withdrawn due to the errors or asked for a <br />ch ge order in the amount of $9,174. <br />Aft r much consideration the Commission <br />decided to reject all bids and authorized the <br />staff to re -bid the project. Bids are to be <br />received at 10:00 a.m. on November 21, 1983. <br />Mr. Hunt. <br />gave an update on the sale of. <br />Disposition <br />Parcel #3 -4 and part of 3 -3 in the <br />East Bark <br />Development Area. Mr. Hunt stated <br />that the <br />principle investor in the project <br />will be <br />sukmiitting his final financial <br />statemerts <br />shortly which will enable the staff <br />to enter <br />into negotiations on the project. <br />Mr. Hunt <br />also reported that Studebaker Plaza <br />Associates <br />whose bid was received for Parcel <br />8 -1 in the <br />Central Downtown Urban Renewal <br />Area, is <br />still in the negotiation stage with a <br />second party <br />on the project. <br />-7- <br />ALL BIDS RECEIVED ON OC'T'OBER 17, <br />1983 REGARDING THE L. KEEN <br />BUILDING IN MONROE PARK WERE <br />REJECTED AND STAFF WAS <br />AUTHORIZED TO RE -BID THE PROJECT, <br />BIDS WILL BE RECEIVED AT 10:00 <br />A.M. ON NOVEMBER 21, 1983 <br />MR. HUNT REPORTED THAT THE <br />STAFF IS AWAITING NEGOTIATIONS <br />WITH THE PRINCIPLE INVESTOR <br />OF DISPOSITION PARCEL #3 -4 AND <br />PART OF 3 -3 IN THE EAST BANK <br />DEVELOPMENT AREA <br />MR. HUNT ALSO REPORTED THAT <br />STUDEBAKER PLAZA ASSOCIATES <br />ARE STILT. NEGOTIATING WITH A <br />SECOND PARTY FOR PARCEL 8 -1 <br />IN THE CENTRAL DOWNTOWN URBAN <br />RENEWAL AREA <br />
