South Bend Redevelopment Com- nission <br />Regular Meeting - October 28, 1983 <br />7. PROGRESS REPORTS (Cont.) <br />Mr. Hunt asked the Commission for <br />authorization to enter into negotiations to <br />lease a portion of the State Theater and to <br />sub-lease it to interested downtown merchants <br />for display purposes. Mr. Hunt proposed a <br />month -t month lease of the facade and <br />adverti ing areas of the Theater for $1.00. <br />The motion was made by Mr. Donaldson that the <br />staff ba authorized to enter into negotiations <br />for a lease with the owners for a portion of <br />the State Theater building, and that the <br />Preside,it and Secretary be authorized to <br />execute the lease. The motion was seconded by <br />Mr. Pia ecki and unanimously carried. <br />Mr. Butler made the announcement of his <br />resignation as Counsel to the Commission and <br />Redevelopment Department effective December <br />31, 198. He gave his appreciation and thanks <br />to the Commission and members of the staff for <br />the opp3rtunity to work with them over the <br />past twelve years that he has served as Legal <br />Counsel <br />Mr. Ni m z thanked Mr. Butler on behalf of the <br />Commiss on for his service and loyalty to the <br />Co�tiss on and Redevelopment Department. <br />Mr. Nim z also stated that it is the <br />Commis on's decision to ask the City Attorney <br />for the assignment of Mrs. Eugenia Schwartz as <br />Counsel for the coming year instead of seeking <br />indeven ent counsel. <br />8. Set Commission Dates for November and <br />The next regularly scheduled Redevelopment <br />Commission meeting will be rescheduled due to <br />the holiday schedule. The motion was made by <br />Mr. Donaldson that the next two meetings will <br />be held on Friday, November 18, and Friday, <br />December 2, 1983 at 10:00 a.m. The motion was <br />seconded by Mr. Piasecki and unanimously <br />carried <br />n <br />STAFF WAS AUTHORIZED TO ENTER <br />INTO NEGOTIATIONS FOR A LEASE <br />WITH THE OWNERS OF THE STATE <br />THEATER FOR A PORTION OF THE <br />BUILDING AND THE PRESIDENT <br />AND SECRETARY WAS AUTHORIZED; <br />TO EXECUTE THE LEASE <br />MR. KEVIN BUTLER ANNOUNCED <br />HIS RESIGNATION AS COUNSEL <br />TO THE COMMISSION AND REDEVELOP- <br />MENT STAFF EFFECTIVE DECEMBER <br />31, 1983 <br />MR. NIMTZ STATED IT WAS THE <br />COMMISSION'S DECISION TO ASK <br />THE CITY ATTORNEY FOR THE <br />ASSIGNMENT OF MRS. EUGENIA <br />SCHVARTZ AS COUNSEL TO THE <br />COMMISSION <br />COMMISSION DATES SET FOR <br />NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER <br />
