COMMUNICATIONS (continued) <br />a. continued... <br />Mr. McMahon explained that the transfer of the Odd <br />Fellows property is to go to TRANSPO, another <br />governmental unit, and it is not necessary to go <br />through a formal bidding process, but we must sell <br />at the appraised value and asked that the Commission <br />acknowledge that the staff would be seeking appraisals <br />of the property. It is also necessary to address the <br />de olition schedule, and we would like permission to <br />advertise for bids on November 13 and 20, 1981, with <br />re eipt of bids at the regular meeting on December 4, <br />19 1. <br />A <br />notion was made by Mr. Donaldson, <br />seconded by Mr. <br />RECEIPT OF DEMOLITION BIDS <br />Ro <br />inson and unanimously carried to <br />advertise for <br />FOR ODD FELLOWS BUILDING <br />de <br />olition bids for the Odd Fellows <br />Building on <br />ON DECEMBER 4, 1981 <br />November <br />13 and 20, 1981, and to receive bids on <br />APPROVED <br />December 4, 1981. <br />Mr. Anderson questioned whether demolition could take <br />pl ce during the winter and Mr. McMahon replied that <br />it could. <br />Mr. Anderson also asked what is the appraised value <br />of the land right now. Mr. McMahon replied that it <br />is approximately $2.00 to $2.10 per square foot. <br />Mr. Anderson asked if the official price was $2.10 . <br />pe square foot for 65,000 square feet, and if that <br />in luded the Odd Fellows Building. Mr. McMahon re- <br />plied that it was for a larger tract, including the <br />pr perty where the Odd Fellows Building is. The <br />TR NSPO people are looking at a piece of property <br />th t runs along Washington Street all the way from <br />Ma .n Street to Michigan Street. <br />Ms. Rebecca Marr asked if we had an estimate of demo- <br />lition costs. Mr. McMahon stated that we received <br />bi s about two years ago, which were not acted.upon, <br />anJ the low bid at that time was $102,000. <br />Ms. Derbeck asked about proposals received for reno- <br />vating the building. Mr. McMahon explained that we <br />received about ten proposals and entered into serious <br />negotiations with four or five developers over the <br />last two years. East proposal ran into problems that <br />pr vented our acceptance. In some cases it was the <br />co t of funding or the cost of construction. One <br />
