South Bend Commission
Rescheduled ledevelopment
Regular Meeting - June 26, 1981
7. NEW BUSINESS
f. Commission approval requested for multi-family Rehab
Gui elines, in accordance with recommendation of
Mrs. Marzy Bauer, Director of Community Development.
Mrs. Bauer stated that the guidelines are for a new
Community Development program designed to assist some
structures that exist in the City which have more than
fiVE units. We have done this in the past with specific
allocations for the YWCA. We're trying to be a little
bit more general this year in opening this up to
other non - profit groups that might be running buildings
of the sort that the YWCA does run. Basically we know
that we can't always provide enough money to bring
everything in the building up to code, so we are not
requiring that in this case, we are only going to do re-
pairs that they request, but we will require that the
building is structually sound and that we are not in
any eminent health and safety danger, because we don't
want to go in and put in storm windows if the roof is
goi g to collapse.
On a motion made by Mr. Cira, seconded by Mr. Robinson MULTI- FAMILY REHAB GU1RE
and unanimously carried, the Multi- Family Guidelines, LINES APPROVED AS PRESENTED
as rresented by the Director of Community Development, BY THE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY
werE approved. The Commission is not in
a position to act on them today as there is just a
quorum and Mr. Nimtz is not able to vote on either of
these contracts. We would like to have some discus-
sior and we will take action on this at a later date.
:
