South Bend edevelopment Commission
Rescheduled Regular Meeting - June 26, 1981
7. NEW BUSINESS
d. continued...
On motion made by Mr. Robinson, seconded by Mr. Cira
and unanimously carried, the Commission approved the
following Grant Bid Contracts as listed except that
R. A. Stickler Contracting be deleted from the Helen
Woodward contract and Charles Brown Maintenance
Com any, Inc. be substituted, and that R. A. Stickler
Con racting be deleted from the Navada Hugins con -
tra t and Engle Construction Company be substituted.
e. Com ission approval requested for Change Order No. 2
witf Diedrich Construction, for an increase in con -
tra t price of $835.00, for an amended contract
total of $7,778.00 at the address of 434 South Kale y,
as set forth in a letter from Mrs. Kathryn Baumgart-
ner, Director, Bureau of Housing.
Mrs. Baumgartner explained that Diedrich Construction
had employed an unlicensed individual to do the
electrical work on the property. The Bureau of Housing
discovered this and, as a result, required him to re-
do all the electrical work performed by the unlicensed
individual. He was then required to hire a licensed
electrician to perform the work. When the licensed
electrician went into the property, he discovered that
the 100 amp service panel which exists in the basement
was in fact very cleverly concealing a 60 amp service
and, therefore, did not meet code. It will have to be
corrected in order for him to get the certificate to
get out of the house. I would like to make it per-
fectly clear that all the work done by the unlicensed
individual was removed by Diedrich while we watched.
We also watched the licensed electrician re -do that
por ion of the work, and that is all at Diedrich's
expense. The change order is for 100 amp service and
rewiring portions of the house.
On motion made by Mr. Robinson, seconded by Mr. Cira
and unanimously carried, Change Order No. 2 with
Diedrich Construction for an increase in contract
price of $835.00 was approved.
7
COMMISSION AWARDED NINE (9)
CONTRACTS UNDER GRANT
PROGRAM
COMMISSION APPROVED CHANGE
ORDER NO. 2 FOR DIEDRICH
CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR
$835 INCREASE IN CONTRACT
PRICE AT 434 SOUTH KALEY
STREET
