South BendlRedevelopment Commission
Regular Me ting - January 2, 1981
6. NEW BUSINESS
b. continued....
Mr. Robinson: How many are we going
tolhave of this clean -up? Do we know?
Mr. Daren: We don't know exactly, because
we're getting right close to the end of it.
Kathy is monitoring that, so I'm not sure
exactly how far away we are from finishing
them up.
Mr. Robinson: Now, are these clean -up
activities or bids for clean-up activities,
are these projects that they had already done
previously and these are minor changes or
something like that?
Mr. Daren: No, these are items that weren't
addressed at all on the first contract, gen-
erally due to the limitation of the first
contract at $9,000.00.
Mr. Robinson: Again, we don't have anything
on here to tell us what they are bidding on.
We're bidding on a pig in a poke again.
Mrs. Kolata: We have that information here.
We Jid not make copies of it all, but we do
have that if you would like to see it.
Mr. Cira: Was that limit 10% over the cost
estimate or 20% that we were talking about?
Mr. Daren: We were talkin about 20 %. I think
there is one that might be slightly over.
Mrs. Kolata: There is one that is just a bit
over, like $40.00 over the 20 %, but it is the
low bidder.
Mr. Daren: Effective this week we are starting
a- new cost estimate procedure.
Mr. Cira: Yes, I noticed that. On one cost
estimate you have an estimate of $2,700.00 and
we awarded the bid for $2,300.00, and then we
got a cost estimate of $5,100.00 and awarded it
for $5,700.00. This other one was a cost estimate
of 1,406.00 and $1,727.00, so the cost estimate
was a lot under what we awarded the bid on two out
of he three. How accurate was the cost estimate?
-3-
