South Ben0edevelopment Commission
Regular Me ting - January 2, 1981
6. NEW BUSINESS
b. continued....
Mr. Daren: We've used the HOME -TECH Book
and we have analyzed previous contractor's
bids to devise the new cost book that we are
starting to use beginning this year. Hope-
fully that will provide closer estimates.
Mr. Nimtz: We are certainly pleased to see
the increased number of bidders. This is
just an economic question of mine, do you
feel it is because of the economic situation
that we are getting more bidders, or why
are we getting more participation, do you
ha any idea?
Mr. Daren: Mostly economic. There are
several people that are in new home construc-
tion coming over and inquiring if they can get
into any of the activity.
Mr. Robinson: I must be blind, Ann, I can't
see what is the scope of the work. In other
words, it says, "the contractor agrees to
finish all the work ". There is nothing that
tells us what they are going to do.
Mrs. Kolata: I'm sorry, that is just the
contract.
Mr. Daren: That would be in the bid specifica-
tio s.
Mrs Kolata: Right, and that is what he is
ask'nLy about.
Mr. Robinson: I want to know what kind of work
the are doing in order to justify these prices,
and again I say, we are going to approve a pig
in a poke. We don't really know what we are
tal cinq about.
Mr.Cira: We've been doing that for the last
cou le of months.
Mr. Robinson: I know, and I kept hollering
abo t it before. I thought we had it corrected,
but 1I guess not.
Mr.Cira: Don't approve them until they give
us he specifications.
-4-
