South Be rd Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting
December 1, 1978
N
e.
f.
INESS (Continued)
inued........
Kagel: Is there a time limitation on how long the new owners
the purchased property can live in that property before they
11 it?
. Ellison: It is not required that the purchaser of a home from
a not - for - profit organization live there a certain period of time.
Typically, RENEW, or other agencies, which utilize the not - for - profit
r hab grant program do so specifically to make available a housing
opportunity for a lower income home ownership opportunity which,
otherwise,-might not occur. That is one motivation for doing the
a tivity. The second motivation is that these houses typically
are vacant and abandoned by the time the house is acquired by a
n t- for - profit organization. Consequently, the activity provides
f r the retention of housing units that otherwise would be torn
M * Robinson made a motion to approve a rehabilitation grant of
$ ,000.00 to Grace A.M.E. Zion Church a not - for - profit organization,
s conded by Mr. Cira, and the motion was unanimously carried.
C m
To r
r c
ssion approval requested for the following bid contract
eneral construction, Contract Set #5B, in accordance with
ommendation of the South
el review and South
abplicable.
visory Board, subject to le
Common Council approval, as
Contract Set #5B
Charles Brown Maintenance Co., Inc. $6,864.00
(general construction contract)
Mr. Harcus: The special aspect of this contract is to bring
tc your attention that this is the last of two homes of the
Tom Ford Home Improvement Company contract, that you terminated
some time ago. When this contract is serviced, it will conclude
the Tom Ford deficiencies. The South Advisory Board recommends
y ur approval of this contract.
M . Cira made a motion that Contract Set #5B in the amount of
$6,846.00 be awarded to Charles Brown Maintenance Co., Inc.
subject to South Bend Common Council approval, seconded by
Mr. Robinson, and the motion was unanimously carried.
-5-
CONTRACT SET
#5B APPROVED
FOR GENERAL
CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT
