Four (4) contractors picked up bid documents: REJECTED, BC Plumbing & Heating Company, Indiana Construction, Tom Schfetz, SOUTHEAST nd Slatile Roofing & Sheet Metal Company. Keith P. Crighton, Director, Bureau of Housing, advised the ids received on Contracts #SECD /19, #SECD /36, #SECD /33, #SECD /34 nd #SECD /37, were either over our $8,000 limitation or they were oo far over our cost estimates, and the Advisory Board felt they hould be re- evaluated. In other words, some of the items included n the inspection would be deleted; however, none of the items would e deleted that relate to health and safety code requirements for outh Bend. Commissioner Wiggins asked if this contemplates a revision of the cost estimate, and Mr. Crighton advised their cost estimating pro- cedure is accurate. It varies slightly between contractors of different size; obviously an operation is going to have a slightly lesser cost estimate - -a slightly lesser bid than someone with a 10 -man crew - -but the cost estimator that we have on our staff is following standard procedure and we have had relative success with it lately. In the specified contracts, we will not be changing the cost estimate, but will be deleting items from the specifica- tions. Mr. Wiggins moved for the compliance with the Southeast Advisory Committee's request, seconded by Mr. Donaldson and carried, which is to reject the bids received on Contracts #SECD /19, #SECD /36, #SECD /33, #SECD /34 and #SECD /37, and the specifications are to be re- evaluated and revised. The contracts are to be re- submitted for bid as soon as the necessary corrections have been made.
