Mr. Crighton advised this contractor has <br />al eady been awarded the contract, and asked if the Commissioner <br />is suggesting that we re- advertise for that contract, to which <br />Co missioner Cira replied, "Yes. Rebid that contract for the roof-- <br />for that kind of money even if.it only involved a couple hundred <br />dollars." Commissioner Wiggins said that also would depend on what <br />ki d of shape the roof is in. The original cost of the house to <br />re abilitate, asked by Commissioner Robinson, was $5,700 and this <br />change order increases it to: $7,280.00. Mr. Crighton advised <br />that as long as the price is within our allowance -- usually within <br />$65.00 to $85.00 - -we really can't object 'to` the price. Actually <br />th y would not even present it to the Redevelopment Commission if <br />the prices were considered unfair. The Chief Inspector and the Pro- <br />ject Director wouldn't even refer it for approval. Johnson, Jr., Chief Inspector, <br />he advises the specifications from the Housing Allowance Office <br />indicates deterioration of the shingles over the front porch. <br />When the contractor began to cover the front porch with asphalt <br />shingles he found that the sheathing was also deteriorated; <br />th refore, staff recommends approval.
