insulation is placed in the attic. It fs not blown into the
walls as that is rather costly. Most of the heat loss is
through the roof, so we would insulate the attic. As to it
being cheaper over the long run, Commissioner Wiggins responded
that all we can really do is bring the house up to code and the
code, at present, does not include insulating the home.
amount of $550.00, (Contract: $5,362.00), or an amended
contract total of: $5,912.00, for rehabilitation work at:
628 East Indiana Street, in the Southeast Bureau of Housing
Project E -7, per explanation in memorandum dated February 4,
1976, from Chief Inspector, Mr. James L. Johnson.
Mr. Brownell read the memorandum and change order items in its
entirety.
The specifications had called for the installation of a
120,000 BTU gas conversion unit. The contractor suggests
that a new furnace would be more adequate for this structure,
because of the enormous size of old duct work and the lack of a
forced air system. Staff recommends the change order approval.
