Change Order No 1 to Rehabilitation Contract No. 44, Project CHANGE ORDER
E -7: Approval was requested for this Change Order, with NO. 1 TO
Barany Heating & Sheet Metal, for an increase in contract REHABILITATION
amount of $1,233.00, (Contract: $6,450.00), or an amended CONTRACT NO.
contract total of: $7,683.00, for rehabilitation work at: 44 APPROVED,
236 East Paris Street, in the Southeast Bureau of Housing E -7
Project E -7, per explanation in memorandum dated February 4,
1976, from Chief Inspector, Mr. James L. Johnson.
Mr. Brownell read the memorandum and change order items in
its entirety.
The contractor has submitted a request for the following
items which were not included in the specifications for the
referenced contract:
Replace roof over southwest and southeast
rear sections ............................... $ 145.00
Counter flash 30' x 4' ..................... 120.00
First floor bathroom lavatory - Open lava-
tory drain, and install P -trap 78.00
Install 160,000 BTU forced air furnace and
replace 8' of flue pipe and elbow on water
heater ..................................... 945.00
Sub Total 1,288.00
Less credit for duct work repair for furnace 55.00
Total ............... $1,233.00
Commissioner Robinson raised the question on these furnaces,
such as the new furnace above, when this has been determined
by the inspector and /or the contractor -- whoever it might be --
since the contractor didn't have the opportunity to bid for
the item, is he checked before he gives this price for a
change order, and the Chair requested Keith Crighton to re-
spond to the question. Commissioner
Wiggins agreed and said about everyone runs into problems
and that's really to be expected in these old houses.
Discussion followed on the size of the furnaces and Mr. Caesar
asked if these houses are insulated; if they were they could
possibly use smaller furnaces?
