6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont'd
Mr. Keith P. Crighton, Director, Bureau of Housing, was re-
quested to explain the recommended work on the change order.
Mr. Crighton passed out photographs that showed the damages
on the roof, and explained that what has happened, is that
since the time of the initial inspection, further water damage
has caused portions of the sheathing on the front roof and
the rear main section to deteriorate, as is also noted in Mr.
James L. Johnson, Jr., Chief Inspector of the Southeast Bureau
of Housing's memorandum of December 3, 1975, included in packet.
Mr. Crighton advised this change order was requested by our site
office staff and was not originated by the contractor. It calls
for an addition of 160 square feet of 5/8" plywood sheathing;
some 2 x 4's to replace the rotted ones already there; and two
rolls of black paper, all in amount of $484.00. We have a
rear portion roof to be replaced of 384 square feet of 5/8"
plywood sheathing; 70 feet of facia; 70 feet of soffit; two
rolls of black paper; and 70 feet of crown moulding, totalling
$742.00, or a grand total of: $1,226.00. We are also deleting
20 asbestos shingles - -12" x 24 "- -that were on the original
specifications that are not needed, in decrease to contract
of: $275.00, or a total net increase to the contract of:
$951.00. These changes would increase the contract total to:
$6,551.00.
Mr. Wiggins moved for the approval of Change Order No. 1 to
Rehabilitation Contract No. 27, for an increase in contract
amount of: $951.00, or an amended contract total of: $6,551.00.
Motion was seconded by Mr. Donaldson and carried.
b Change Order No. 1 to Rehabilitation Contract No. 49, E -7:
Commission approval was requested of Change Order No. 1 to
Rehabilitation Contract No. 49, with Ted Combs Decorating
Company, for an increase in contract amount of $1,299.50,
(Contract: $6,470.53), or an amended contract total of:
$7,770.03, for rehabilitation work at: 217 East Calvert
Street, Southeast Project E -7.
Mr. Keith P. Crighton, Director, Bureau of Housing, advised
that this is a similar problem with the roof, which has con-
tinued to leak, causing severe damage to the interior of the
structure. Also, the structure has no gutters or downspouts
at the present time. It has an 8" overhang, and this is
causing water to settle along the foundation. What we have
are replacement of southeast basement sash, frame, hardware
and paint; install 125 feet of gutters; install 70 feet of
downspouts. The entire foundation, 200 square feet, has
to have stucco, (including the front porch); 3/8" exterior
plywood needs to be installed on the front porch, along with
three (3) 8 foot wrought iron columns. On the interior, we
have the first bedroom that is being panelled and trim
painted; the hallway is being repaired, sealed and painted
also. The only thing we are deleting is the repairs that
were originally called for in the specification and that is
