e.
IBUSINESS (Cont'd)
Mr. Kevin J. Butler said, "I think that Mr.'Soltesz's point here
is that in the future we will have to.get a handle on these pools,
because they are 'DAMN' costly.::'.They are too costly to operate
and maintain." Commissioner Wiggins said, "We want to.be sure
that we don't continue to:make the''same boo- boo's' and pay the
same price over and over again. I don't think that anyone can
quarrel with that.
The Chair requested a motion for the payment for this work that
has been done. Mr. Chenney made'the motion that this bill be
allowed and paid to Colip's (The bill has not been submitted;
the amount quoted by Mr. Slabaugh i's: $2,600.00). Motion was
seconded by Mr. Wiggins and carried.`
The response to the Chair's, "Any further questions ? ", Mr.
Gene Evans stated he was curious as to why this was not pre -
sented as a Change Order to the Contract, since it is an active
contract. Mr. Wiggins said it is not a change order it is for
additional work that was not in the specifications. Mr. Chenney
said it was installed according to the original specifications and
we found out that it didn't work, that moisture got in there and
it shorted out. Mr. 'Brownell said, "I don't believe it is any part
of the contract. Mr. Evans then asked, "It is out of the funds that
would normally pay for the contracts? Commissioners Chenney and
Wiggins replied, "No. Mr. Wiggins said this is actually maintenance
to a degree in that they had to undue the water damage.
The Chair said the motion is that this be allowed and ordered to be
paid and with no further discussions, the motion is made and carried.
Mr. Slabaugh requested from the Chair he be permitted to answer to
one point. "The material that Mr. Soltesz used, I did the same
things. I used hydrochloric acid; he used hydrochloric acid; and
it snowballed. 15% hydrogen chloride - -it's hydrochloric acid;
muriatic. acid. Muriati,c acid eats up..." At this point, Mr. Soltesz
interrupted!Mr. Slabaugh, and said, "That's not right:: Hydrochloric
is not muriatic acid, Mr. Slabaugh, just for the clarification of the
records." Mr. Slabaugh's response was, "Well, according to a little
'geology book' that I have; it is. Muriatic acid is a common name
and hydrochloric acid is specific. At any rate, we used this material
that you are using, and if it seeps down on the concrete, it is going
to eat the concrete out." Some asked, "They do ?" and Mr. Slabaugh
answered, "Yes."
Change Order No. 1 to Rehabilitation Contract No. 10, E -7: Commis-
sion approval was requested of Change Order No. 1 to the Rehabi-
litation Contract No. 10, for an increase in contract amount
of $887.00, with Ted Combs Decoratin— g & Construction Company,
for ork a
wt 613 East Keasey Street, Project E' -7, Bureau of Hous-
ing, for an amended contract total of: $5,377:40, and no time
change.
- 27 -
CHANGE
ORDER 1
TO CON-
TRACT 10
APPROVED,
E -7
