5. OLD BUSINESS (Cont'd)
I am glad of, Mr. Chairman, is that the overlay of the utilities has
finally come out for discussion that Mr. Kagel and the rest of us
have asked to know where shut -offs for electrical apparatus and
gas, and everything else is. It is now out where we can see it,'
so we did achieve something for a $4,000 income--$4,000 for the
engineering outlet." Mr. Kagel said "Absolutely. We should re-
ceive this report and then we have to obviously consider this matter
again."
Mr. Wiggins made the motion this item be placed on the Agenda for
the May 23rd meeting, seconded by Mr. Donaldson and carried.
Mr. Chenney asked how they are going to go on th s $37,000 estimate
that they have; have no papers we don't know what companies bid
on it; we don't know anything about it. He didn't think the engineers
that work for Bendix are going to come out here and are qualified to
make this thing; they are not in the construction industry. Mr.
Wiggins said this is what we are going to hear about and decide at
our next meeting, on the 23rd, and that is one of the reasons for
having all the people who are interested here at the meeting to
present their opinions.
To this reply Mr. Soltesz angryly replied, "Now, just a minute:"
Mr. Chairman: Now, just for your information, 'yes, we are in the
construction business out there at the Bendix Corporation,'and conse-
quently, we have just as many civil engineers, and architectural
engineers as that in any industry around here -- including Wheelabrator,
Ball Band, Dodge, and others:" Mr. Chenney said, "Oh, I know that,
sure. I'm not disputing that. You're working for Bendix; that's
what I said. I'm not disputing that."
The Chair asked if the Commissioners or the Director were at the
River Bend Advisory Committee, last Tuesday. None were. It was
election day. Mr. Wilcox and Mr. Soltesz attended.
The Chair advised Mr. Chenney that he will be the Presiding Officer
at the next meeting. Mr. Nimtz will be out of town.
The motion was that this item be placed on the Agenda for the May 23rd
meeting for public discussion and hearing, and motion so carried.
6.
