Mr. Dan Caesar, reporter with WSBT -TV, said he is assuming
this involves all plumbing work that will be done by Barany
Heating & Sheet Metal for these rehabilitation contracts,
and questions were raised on the labor rates. Mr. Keith
P. Crighton, Director of the Bureau of Housing, E -7 Project,
advised the work involves all labor for the code violations
that exist, and that we have a prevailing wage rate from the
Department of Labor (Decision Number 75 -IN -2) that states
the wages for all classifications of labor, and we pay the
U.S. Department of Labor rate.
On motion by Mr. Wiggins, seconded by Mr. Chenney and carried,
the above - listed contracts were awarded to the low bidder,
Barany Heating & Sheet Metal, in bid amounts shown, all subject
to approval by the South Bend Common Council and Commission
Legal Counsel, and, if approved, the President and Secretary
authorized to enter into contracts.
