This permission was given by HUD as they had conducted the last audit and the close -out audit is considered an updating of the previous audit. If our Agency considers their work of this caliber and we would wish to utilize their services for additional updating of audits, it would eliminate the necessity to ask for bids from other firms. motion by Mr. Wiggins, seconded by Mr. Chenney and carried, above letters are to be received and placed on file. BUSINESS Repair Work at Robertson's Vault: Approval was re- REPAIR WORK quested to do the repair work on the leaking vault at AUTHORIZED FOR Robertson's, for a cost of $572.00, per quotation from ROBERTSON'S The Hickey Company in letter dated April 2, 1975, which VAULT, R -66 has been discussed in prior Commission meeting of February 21, 1975. The recommendations and the solution to the storm water leakage in Robertson's vault was submitted by the Sika Chemical Corporation. The leakage is occurring through the old cracks in the original slab at the point of the old expansion joints. Movement in the original slab has transmitted cracks through the bonding glue line and through the new overlay at the points along transverse and longitudinal joints. Mr. Brownell advised the cost of the repairs will be $621.00, and out of that The Hickey Company will allow a credit of $49.00 for the three joints that had not been treated, leaving a total price of $572.00. Mr. Thomas A. Oesterling, Engineering Consultant with Clyde E. Williams & Associates, Inc., advises in letter dated April 3, 1975, that this problem is the same as we had in front of Baer's Furniture which has been pre- viously repaired using the same approach as in the speci- fication attached to Hickey's letter by the Sika Chemical Corporation. Mr. Oesterling recommends that the Depart- ment of Redevelopment approve The Hickey Company's pro- posal for the subject work. This should be repaired, per Mr. Brownell, otherwise they have a justifiable complaint. This will be a direct authorization to spend the money for the repairs, and will be treated as a claim, rather than as a change order. - 4 -
