Si Brazy Claim, R -66: Commission consideration was re- SI BRAZY <br />quested to accept a low bid of $425.00, to cover a claim CLAIM AUTHORI- <br />from Si Brazy, to correct the leakage problem in the ZED, R -66 <br />sidewalk, at 230 South Michigan Street, location of <br />Martha's Beauty Shop. <br />It was necessary to eliminate the awning when installing <br />the canopy and the housing for the awning is not in the <br />condition it was before. The main concern is that water <br />now pours through the new sidewalk and into the basement. <br />Approximately 44 feet of aluminum flashing from the build- <br />ing over the canopy will deflect the water onto the canopy <br />thus causing it to go down the canopy drains is suggested <br />to eliminate this problem, and the proposal for the cost <br />of this work is $425.00, from the low bidder Si Brazy re- <br />ceived. Mr. Brazy has offered to accept that amount in <br />settlement of this claim. <br />Mr. Wiggins recommended the approval of this settlement, in <br />amount of $425.00, as noted above. Motion was seconded by <br />Mr. Donaldson and carried. <br />e. Change Order No. 1 to Demolition and Site Clearance Con- <br />tract No. 38, R -66: Mr. C. Wayne Brownell, Executive <br />Director, advised the work involved in this change order <br />was discussed in the Commission meeting of February 7, <br />1975, and noted in the minutes. Commission authorization <br />was received to proceed with the required work. The <br />contract is with Warner and Sons. <br />The work involves the removal of the 8" south wall (Parcel <br />21 -10) down to the bottom of the lower joist pocket for <br />the entire 103 feet, which includes two bricks thick and <br />from 20 courses high to about 13 courses high at the end <br />(rear) of the original building. Also the 8" concrete <br />block wall addition shall be removed down to the plaster <br />line. Joist pocket cavities extending below the plaster <br />line are to be filled with masonry mortar; sheet metal <br />box -type coping - flashing to be altered to fit flat against <br />the north wall of Spiegel's (Parcel 21 -9); tuck point all <br />empty joints below sheet metal on Parcel 21 -9; plus the <br />work as noted on change order for the remaining part of <br />the south wall of Parcel 21 -10; with the guarantee to this <br />Department that the wall will not leak. Maintenance Bond <br />posted for twelve (12) months, plus Surety Bond. <br />CHANGE ORDER <br />NO. 1 TO <br />DEMOLITION & <br />SITE CLEARANCE <br />CONTRACT NO. 38, <br />R -66 <br />Mr. Bill Slabaugh, Board of Works, recommended the Redevelop - <br />ment Commission approve Change Order No. 1, in amount of <br />$1,711.18, with the following breakdown: <br />- 7 - <br />
