V.I.P.'s will be
present. The LaSalle Band will be providing the Irish
music.
d. 1975 Activities Program for the River Bend Plaza:
Mr. Louis N. Wilcox reported he has submitted a lengthy 1.975 ACTIVITIES
brochure to Mr. C. Wayne Brownell, showing their up- PROGRAM, RIVER
dated Program for 1975, and that he wi,Jl be happy to BEND PLAZA,
furnish additional copies to the Commissioners if they R -66
so wish.
Mr. Kagel felt the Commissioners should certainly have
the program, as well as some of the others if possible.
e. Plaza Furniture:
On October 18, Mr. Wilcox said he had been requested by PLAZA FURNITURE,
the Commissioners to look into additional furniture for R -66
the Plaza.
As he should not be the individual to make the sole de-
cision, Mr. Wilcox requested the Commissioners permission
to get some of these items done, if they wish, and ap-
proval to go ahead and bring some actual samples for the
Commissioners to see, instead of just a color print. A
firm from Hillsdale, Michigan, would bring in some pieces
to illustrate what they have.
President Nimtz inquired as to where we would get the
money to purchase these items. Mr. Brownell felt this
would come out of the 1972 Redevelopment District Bond
Account.
Mr. Wilcox illustrated a brochure with tables and chairs
for the sidewalk cafe -type of operation on the Plaza and
also in the supergraphic area; also attractive trash con-
tainers, etc.
President Nimtz said that anything portable may disappear
and the suggestion was emphasized to have the items se-
curely anchored against pilferage.
Also another type of bicycle rack was illustrated in
the brochure that is interesting and we would also have
the vendor bring that in. It could be placed around the
metal uprights and require less physical area.
Mr. Brownell suggested we obtain samples of these things
and to also take it up with the Board of Works as well.
- 13 -
