7. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Contract Not. <br />Contractor <br />3 and 5 Madison Construction Co. <br />32 Newton Construction Co. <br />On motion by Mr. Donaldson, seconded by Mr.� Wiggins and <br />carried, the above authorization was approved for the <br />execution of the contracts, as noted. <br />Mr. Ed Soltesz raised the question if the above contracts <br />all have bid bonds, relating to prior discussion, under <br />5c above, and Ms. Conchita M. Washington's request to <br />eliminate bid bonds? Mr. Brownell advised all the con- <br />tractors are furnishing us with bid bonds or cash bonds, <br />including the above contracts, in the Bureau of Housing <br />Program, E -7. <br />c. Delinquent rent write -off: Authorization was requested DELINQUENT <br />to write off a delinquent rent account, with the Book RENT WRITE -OFF, <br />Shop, at 113 South Michigan Street, Parcel No. 3 -12, R -66 <br />in the amount of $100.00. The owner is: Nancie Stokes. <br />Mr. John A. Kotzenmacher, Director of the Property <br />Management Division, report advises the owner of the <br />Book Shop has discontinued her business and his attempts <br />to collect the delinquent amount have not been success - <br />ful. <br />On motion by Mr. Wiggins, seconded by Mr. Donaldson and <br />carried, the above rent write -off was approved, in <br />amount of $100.00. <br />PROGRESS REPORTS <br />a. River Bend Plaza Schedule Report, R -66: <br />Mr. Louis N. Wilcox, Director of the River Bend Plaza, RIVER BEND <br />informed the Commissioners that Mr. Karl King, who has PLAZA REPORT, <br />been serving as Chairman of the River Bend Plaza Ad- R -66 <br />visory Committee, had been hospitalized and is being <br />released today. He will be continuing treatments. <br />Further, three outstanding comments by businessmen in <br />the River Bend Plaza, was received enthusiastically <br />and rewarding from the past negative and pessimistic <br />reports some of our representatives habe been subjected <br />to in the past: <br />1) Azar's Restaurant on the Plaza: Their district <br />manager, Mr. Larry Putt, had stated this was, with- <br />out any question, the best grand opening and the <br />most successful of any of their restaurants they <br />have ever had. They have restaurants in various <br />states. <br />- 11 - <br />
