7. IPROGRESS REPORTS (Cont'd
Mr. Brownell advised the contractors were invited by Lawson
Associates to view a gabion construction movie in this office.
We had difficulties with the projector in this office and
the movie was shown in the Council Chambers. We had a large
attendance.
A lengthy discussion followed on this contract and it was
agreed to withhold any immediate action pending the results
of Thursday's meeting with HUD officials as to whether or
not they will accept the contract, as awarded, or whether
we will be requested to re- advertise.
Mr. Soltesz stressed that nothing should go amiss on this
contract. We have a date for the Bicentennial and the Plaza
Park and its dedication. The uses and non -uses have a pro-
longed effect which will affect this Committee and the acti-
vities of the Bicentennial coming up, and the indications
are there may be a possibil "ity that something can be very
readily worked out with HUD. We have a date set for the
activities usage of the area.
Mr. Brownell advised.the project will take 120 days to com-
plete, after the Notice to Proceed is issued, and we hope
to complete the project in time.
Mr. Kagel requested, as a matter of record and to have
entered in the minutes, he would like to know as a matter
of the public:
Q. Who will be the senior HUD official who will
officially be representing HUD at the meeting,
in Indianapolis, on February 27?
A. Mr. Brownell advised, Miss Fredi Rolsky.will
be the senior official for the program on re-
cord.
Q. If this decision is being made and it reflects
the initial thinking of non - acceptance of the
contract by HUD, the public here is entitled:
(1) To have this information in writing. I,
for one, and further Mr. Soltesz.
(2) Furthermore- -and again going back to the
minutes - -and hopefully you will send the
minutes to the HUD officials, in Chicago,
Indianapolis and Washington, that our Bi-
centennial Committee needs to have these
contracts executed, and, furthermore, the
work needs to be completed for the Bicen
tennial activities.
- 10 -
