8. QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION (Cont'd
Mr. Soltesz, Member of the River Bend Plaza Advisory
Committee, said he had a question on the submission
of the contract. Was there any indication in the
contract that a proposal would be made to the Advisory
Board as to a communication on pulling of wiring so we
have a facility for enunciating a PA system in that
general area?
A. Mr. Brownell advised, "No. That was not included
in the contract specification."
Mr. Soltesz said the reason he asked is that it is a
simple process at the time when we are pulling a wire,
instead of having to go back at a later date and we should
decide we want something like this and have to tear up
everything that has been laid to do the wiring job that
is necessary.
A. Mr. Brownell said the reason it was not included was
at the time we were working with this contract; `we did
not have money enough for the full contract. We had
to eliminate the lighting from the contract. The Com-
mission was not happy with eliminating the fighting.
We have now submitted it to HUD, with the lighting
eliminated, for approval. We do not have the money
to do the contract as it wasr,or, gl'1 l-y presented.
Commissioner Wiggins said we would have to do that
phase of it under a separate contract, as we have to
find the funds to do it with. This is where we are
at. It also includes doing the basic part of the
electrical work. The contract was decreased at this
point. These other things can be handled later. We
anticipate finding support that will provide the
funds to get it going.
Mr. Brownell said Mr. Soltesz is talking about putting
in wiring for communication purposes and we have com-
mitted ourselves to try to find money for the lighting.
Mr. Soltesz advised on one other: In the sizing of the
facilities, it would be advantageous if the size of the
conduit was being laid and the principals supplied with
consideration for the co -axial cable that is necessary
so it can be pulled at that time. Instead of going all
through the expenses and doing the same job a l l over
again.- We are only talking about a 1/2" size and that
determining factor does not take away from the material
cost too much because it is all the same.
A. Commissioner Wiggins said as we have approval on this, if
we can find the means to do it, we can handle it by a
change order.
- 17 -
