8. ECB shall be securely anchored to the ground using staples or Engineer approved equivalent <br />method at intervals as recommended by the manufacturer at a frequency of 1.7 staples per square <br />yard or greater. <br />9. The ECB shall be installed such that continuous contact between the ECB, and the underlying <br />topsoil is achieved without bunching or intermittent gaps. <br />10. Permanent seed mix shall be Seed Mixture Grass, Type 2, per Section 621.06. This seed mixture <br />shall be placed at the rate of 125 lb/ac consisting of 20 lb/ac of Smooth Brome Grass, 10 lb/ac <br />of Orchard Grass, 40 lb/ac of Kentucky Bluegrass, 35 lb/ac of Creeping Red Fescue, and 20 <br />lb/ac of Perennial Rye Grass <br />11. Mobilizations/demobilizations for seeding shall not be measured directly but shall be considered <br />incidental to the Project. <br />12. Payment will be made under: <br />Pay Item Pay Unit <br />Erosion Control Blanket SYS <br />Seed Mixture Grass, Type 2 SYS <br />Topsoil CYS <br />SP-45. PLANTING TREES <br />A. State Specifications: Section 622 <br />B. Additions: This Pay Item shall include the work needed to provide replacement trees <br />impacted by the work at the site. <br />1. Trees shall be replaced at a 1:1 ratio for trees removed to trees planted. <br />2. Tree species planted shall be deciduous varieties on the list of allowable trees below. <br />3. All trees planted shall be of healthy stock of the sizes listed in the Pay Items for deciduous <br />varieties at the approximate locations shown on the Plans. <br />4. Contractor may select to use from the following species of deciduous trees in areas more than 20' <br />from existing overhead electric facilities: <br />a. River Birch (Betula nigra) <br />b. Honey Locust (Gleditsia triacanthos) <br />c. Sweet Gum (Liquidambar stryraciflua) <br />d. Ohio Buckeye (Aesculus glabra) <br />e. Tuliptree (Liriodendron tulifera) <br />f. American Hornbeam (Carpinus caroliniana) <br />5. Contractor may select to use from the following species of deciduous trees in areas within or under <br />existing overhead electric facilities <br />a. Flowering Dogwood (Cornus florida) <br />b. Red -osier Dogwood (Cornus sericea/C. alba) <br />c. Redbud (Cercis canadensis) <br />d. Cockspur Hawthorn (Crataegus crus-galli) <br />6. In order to promote species diversity, at least five of the species must be used on the Project, but <br />Version 7/01/2018 Special Provisions - 19 <br />
