4. OOMMUNICATIONS (Cont'd
5.
Mr. Lennon advised this relates back to our earlier
discussion on this item in the Executive Session of
this meeting, with the public present, at 9:30 a.m.,
and that as far back as last February, we filed a
request with HUD for approximately $2 Million to finish
the downtown area. $600,000.00 of that was requested for
relocation claims by public utilities.. As a result of our
latest correspondence, dated August 6, 1974, we have asked
HUD to render an opinion concerning the eligibility of
the relocation claims of public utilities. We received
a claim from Indiana Bell Telephone Company, Inc., dated
September 11, 1974, in the amount of $231,131.00, and
we are referring this to Commission Legal Counsel for
legal review.
in motion by Mr. Wiggins, seconded by Mr. Chenney and unani-
iously carried, the above letters were to be received and placed
in file.
LD BUSINESS
Public Hearing for the Southeast Neighborhood Develop
went Program, Indiana Project E-7: Mrs. Glenda Rae
Hernandez, Treasurer of t e Southeast Side PAC Committee;
Ms. Marzy Bauer, our Planner; Mr. Bill Ellison, our Staff
Director; and Mr. Hollis E. Hughes, Jr., Director of the
Bureau of Housing, are here to answer any questions on
the Public Hearing. In accordance with an ordinance
passed in June appropriating $438,000.00 for a Neighbor-
hood Development Program in the Southeast side, the
Redevelopment Commission is authorized to enter into
contracts to do all administrative work relating to
this Project, Indiana E -7.
Mr. Lennon advised that public notice was given on
September 6, and September 19, 1974, and at subsequent
Advisory Committee Board meetings at 7:30 a.m. - -on the
previous three Friday mornings - -that a public hearing
would be held on the following topics concerning policy
statements on eligibility requirements, income, family
size, age, and an emergency repair program for the
Southeast Side. The information has been forwarded
to the Redevelopment Commissioners prior to this meet-
ing. These were approved by the Advisory Committee on
September 6, 1974, and were approved by the Southeast
PAC Advisory Committee in their meeting last Wednesday
evening. Also notice appeared in The South Bend Tri-
bune issue of September 19, 1974, advising public
hearing was to be held this morning, at 10:30 a.m.,
on the eligibility of grants and loans for the Southeast
Neighborhood Rehabilitation Program.
- 7 -
PUBLIC HEARING,
SOUTHEAST NEIGHB
HOOD DEVELOPMENT
PROGRAM, E -7
