Mr. Wiggins.said this is a management
lem -to find a secure place to store materials. Mr. Lennon
;ed we have two buildings in which these can be stored --
^ rock and key. Bill Slabaugh has an agreement with the
i of Public Works, on plywood, etc., stored at Waste Water,
inyone who wants to buy them. We use plywood for boarding up
!s. We were not given the bricks to store to be responsible
and, if it was given away, we do not think it is our respon-
ity to replace them. There should have been better control.
2) River Bend Plaza Maintenance
A letter was written to the Editor, under Voice of
'eople, dated July 5, that the trash containers were full and
lowing. There had been over 30,000 people on the 4th of July
;he containers were cleaned by 11:00 a.m., the next day,.by
ewer help hired.
Mr. Don Wiggins, Commissioner, suggested in our
perm rent maintenance program to have a vacuum sweeper for
pick up and to have the mall area flushed with water every morning.
3) River Bend Plaza Schedule and Activities
This portion was discussed in the executive session
of the Commission meeting with the public present. Mr. Wilcox
informed the Commission his area of the Plaza coincided with this
Commission meeting- -the reason for his being late. The Mayor was
pres nted with a 1941 Studebaker. They are on the way out to the
100 C nter now. We had 108 Studebakers on the Plaza -- starting at
9 :00 .m. this morning.
Mr. Wilcox said he has a couple of concerns:
a) Maintenance situation on the Plaza, not
good continually at least. Recommended
talking with Mr. Rollin Farrand about the
use of some city people and equipment.
b) Specifications are being written for on-
going maintenance, including snow plowing
on the Plaza, being typed and sending out
to seven maintenance contractors at the
suggestion of Farrand and Heeter for.bid-
ding. Will know something in the next
two weeks how realistic it will be.
RIVER BEND
PLAZA MAINTEN-
ANCE
RIVER BEND PLAZA
SCHEDULE &
ACTIVITIES
In answer to Mr. Wiggins' question, vacuum sweeper and
flushing is included in the maintenance, also the replacement of burned-
out 1 ght bulbs and the removal of trash seven days a week and more than
once i day, if it needs it. Mr. Wilcox said he agrees with Mr. Wiggins
that 1hat is what we need.
- 11 -
