Central Downtown Urban Renewal Project, R -66: <br />1) Construction Schedule: <br />A copy of the weekly construction schedule has been <br />-ibuted and a copy is the Commissioners' packets, covering <br />22 through July 26, 1974. <br />Mr. Lennon advised the fountains and streets have <br />inspected this morning with the Commissioners. <br />Mr. Dan Akin said they were working on all these things <br />:an accept inspection of Michigan Street with the exception of <br />pools- -Colip is working on the fountains -- problems with the <br />;s and plumbing. Colip and Ideal are working on the problem <br />We still have minor things to iron out. We will mai.ntain.. <br />even though it is not accepted yet, as President Helmen and <br />liggins said the fountains are a very important part of the <br />The summer help program is emptying the trash con- <br />tainers under Lou Wilcox's supervision. <br />Mr. Zakrocki, with The Hickey Company, said he under- <br />stood the Mall will not be accepted until final inspection. We <br />have 4, most of 5 and 6, the flag poles need to be touched up -- <br />it rained yesterday. Mr. Zakrocki said he doubts the pools need <br />to be painted black. Mr. Akin said the exposed concrete under <br />water that at one time we were looking at the possibility of hav- <br />ing it done even though it was not in the plans. Mr. Don Wiggins <br />said it would look worse with the paint coming off. As to any <br />chem cal treatment for the concrete, Mr. Zakrocki said it has <br />been cured. <br />Jefferson Street should be completed by the end of <br />next week. Mr. Zakrocki said he doesn't know about Mr. Burroff, <br />the landscape contractor. The count on the brick for the job, <br />they had had more than enough to do the job. On Friday they <br />had one pallet of brick pavers - -only two or three under the <br />planters. Some kid was passing out samples and throwing them <br />in the pool. Mr. Lennon.advised him they had a letter from us <br />that we wanted all the extras. Even the ones cut irregular. Mr. <br />Wiggins suggested we get a supply of these things and store it <br />some place - -it would be good and cheap insurance. We will not <br />be a le to match the texture later. Mr. Zakrocki said his advice <br />is that we get them. Mr. Lennon requested Dan Akin to follow up <br />on that and get us a recommendation for the number for the Com- <br />mission. Mr. Wiggins said the match quality is vital. President <br />Helm (n said we have a guarantee of five years; Hastings is to give <br />a su ply.
