PROGRESS REPORTS (Cont'd <br />The weekly construction schedule was prepared by Mr. Akin <br />for t is week and a copy was included in the Commissioners <br />packet. <br />Mr. A in advised he inspected the construction area with <br />Mr. E ( Werley of Environmental Planning and Design yesterday, <br />along with Mr. Tom Oesterling of Clyde E. Williams & Associates, <br />and with our electrical engineer Monday, and will be giving The <br />Hicke3 Company, Inc., a- punch List Tuesday morning and hopefully <br />they 4an work on that all week. <br />2) River Bend Plaza Schedule and Activities: <br />This portion was also discussed in the Executive <br />Sessi n with the public present. <br />Presi ent Helmen extended congratulations to Mr. Lou Wilcox, <br />Direc or of the River Bend Plaza, for a fruitful day- -June <br />30th- the grand opening of the River Bend Plaza. <br />Mr. Lou Wilcox said the crowd estimate was from 20,000 to <br />40,00 ( people. Chief Urban had advised him there was not a <br />singlE arrest involving the day's activities. The Red Cross <br />peoplE were on hand and the first aid station was in front <br />of thE River Bend Plaza Office. <br />The grand opening dedication went off- -only three minutes late <br />with the Kiltie Band. The efforts of many people surmounted the <br />many problems. The Wally Byam Caravan Club International Rally <br />will te leaving. <br />On thE question of the maintenance of the River Bend Plaza, Mr.. <br />Lennor said it is the responsibility of the Redevelopment Com- <br />mission. Once the consultants say the final inspection is com- <br />plete , we turn it over to the Board of Works, who will turn it <br />over to whoever is designated and will pay for it. <br />As to Mrs. Janet Allen's question on why the fountains are <br />turne off, Mr. Akin said they are still the property of the <br />contractor. It is not turned over to the city yet. They are <br />still working on the last minute details. <br />3) Status Report on paving brick installation in <br />River Bend Plaza, R -66: Discussed in Executive Session <br />Regarding Mr. James T. Zakrocki, Project Manager, The Hickey <br />Company, Inc., letter dated June 26, 1974, re paving brick <br />for project, Mr. Dan Akin advised that we have the exact <br />brick we chose for the project. An error was made in the <br />technicality in the specifications written. Mr. Akin felt the <br />change order The Hickey Company is requesting is not necessary. <br />Certain alternates were included in the bid proposals and among <br />the alternates was the Whitacre -Greer bricks.
