7. <br />GRESS REPORTS (Cont'd) <br />2) General Service Administration: Mr. Lennon <br />read a letter from ;Congressman Brademas_' Field <br />Representative, Mr. Frank Sullivan, Jr-, re- <br />garding his contact with the General Services <br />Administration Counsel. The indication is that. <br />the City should go ahead with their redevelopment <br />plans. <br />3) S. S..Kresge: Mr. Lennon advised the Kresge <br />representatives have been negotiating with two <br />private developers in the past year or so as to <br />what they should do with the Kresge corner. Mr. <br />Lennon said at no time have we said to Kresge <br />that we want them to leave. We just want them <br />to be in conformance with Federal requirements <br />and advised them of some work that needs to be <br />done. They also said one of the other developers <br />may be interested in that corner. Kresge's <br />have been closing many of their downtown stores <br />and their policy is to go towards K -Mart Stores <br />with food area, parking, etc. They usually trans- <br />fer their employees to their new stores. The <br />Economic Commission is allowing them bonding power <br />build a K -Mart Store on Western Avenue. <br />We have no time frame on Kresge. They can rehabi- <br />litate or negotiate with developers. We, at no <br />time, mentioned the $250,000 stated in the newspaper <br />article, dated February 27, 1974, nor did our Mr. <br />Slabaugh, Ed Bauer, or the Substandard or Building <br />Department. <br />GENERAL SERVICE <br />ADMINISTRATION <br />S. S. KRESGE <br />4) Wyman's Sidewalks: Mr. Lennon said we have asked WYMAN'S SIDEWALKS <br />Mr. Roland Goheen, representative for the Wyman Build- <br />ing, and this is concerning the sidewalk repair on <br />Michigan Street, in front of the Wyman Building. They <br />are planning to open up the 100 block South and 100 block <br />North of Michigan Street for the Bicentennial Village <br />and the barricades will need to be removed on the com- <br />pletion of the sidewalks. <br />The barricades will be removed Monday and placed on <br />the farther side to protect the construction on that <br />end. <br />The Bicentennial Committee is working with the Visual PARKING ELIMINATED <br />Improvement people to do some of the painting. The 100 NORTH &..SOUTH <br />parking will be taken off the 100 north and south Michi- MICHIGAN STREET. <br />gan Street, Monday, April 15, after Easter.
