6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont'd <br />b. Disposition Parcel No.'1 -1: Commission authorization CONTRACT APPROVED <br />was requested for the President and Secretary to enter into a WITH DEPT. OF PUBLIC <br />contract with the Department of Public Parks, Disposition PARKS, DISPOSITION <br />Parcel No. 1 -1, for a purchase price of $827.00, R -66. PARCEL NO. 1 -1, R -66 <br />Mr. Lannon advised this is planned for the Bicentennial Park. <br />Right now it is land you cannot get to. This is the only <br />use tie land can be used. Later access will be from St. <br />Josepi Street and off the Civic Center. <br />On mo ion by Rev. TO DEMOLITION & SITE <br />CLEARANCE CONTRACT <br />This involves extra work encountered by the demolition NO. 34, R -66 <br />firm in wrecking the Dan Clark Complex. Permission is <br />requested to prepare the change order for this extra work <br />and the actual measurements will not be known until it is <br />exposed. The contractor's estimate is $50.00 per cubic <br />yard for the removal of the reinforced concrete. This <br />is ba ed on 16 normal column bases to support a two -story <br />masonry paneled, steel frame with a first floor 12" thick <br />reinf rced concrete, the second floor with 6" thick rein- <br />force concrete and a 4" roof of concrete with approximately <br />43 cu is yards of reinforced concrete (6' x 6' x 2' x 16). <br />If th re are 32 columns with approximately 360 cubic yards <br />of re nforced concrete, it would cost approximately $15,850.00 <br />for r movaly If there are only 16 of these 10' x 10' x 3' bases, <br />the e tra work will amount to approximately $7,925.00. <br />Mr. Slabaugh advised there is no way we could have known there <br />was s lid concrete underneath the posters and pillars there. <br />Photo raphs were shown outlining the footings underneath <br />the pillars that the contractor found in the demolition of the <br />basement. <br />Mr. Wide advised this is the same thing we had with the demoli- <br />tion f the Granada Theatre, involving additional funds. <br />At the <br />contrE <br />other <br />he ne( <br />vol vec <br />in the <br />fund r <br />time of the bid the Commissioners had questioned the <br />for on his submitting a much lower bid than all the <br />ontractors and Mr. Jackson had said he did so because <br />ed the work.
