5. ODD BUSINESS (Cont'd <br />The notice of claim is submitted by Mr. Vincent P. Campiti, <br />with the law firm of Crumpacker, May, Levy & Searer, attorneys <br />representing Vera Copp and Chester Copp, alleging Vera Copp <br />susta ned serious injuries including brain damage and partial <br />para1 sis from the explosion at the former Wyman's department <br />store building, at 103 North Michigan Street, South Bend. She <br />was o the sidewalk at the time of the explosion. <br />Mr. K vin J. Butler, Commission Legal Counsel, asked if this <br />had b en submitted to our insurance carrier. It had not been <br />as Co mission direction was to be requested first. <br />On mo ion by Mr. Wiggins, seconded by Rev. Williams and unani- <br />mousl carried, the notice of claim is to be submitted to our <br />incur nce carrier for further handling. <br />6. NSW BUSINESS . <br />a Lawson Associates St. Joseph River Corridor Study: LAWSON ASSOCIATES, <br />Mr. L nnon advise d this study report is in compliance with ST. JOSEPH RIVER <br />the L wson Associates contract that was awarded May 4, 1973 CORRIDOR STUDY, R -66 <br />and hive now come up with a cost estimate to develop the <br />corri (or study. Copies of this report were delivered to <br />each of the Commissioners for review and recommendations within <br />the next four weeks. The estimated costs involve the follow- <br />ing: <br />1) Block 6 (Path, Mini -Park & Jefferson Boulevard <br />Plaza.). <br />2) Pedestrian Bridge (Old Railroad Bridge). <br />3) East Ramp. <br />4) Howard Park Trail. <br />5) Bicentennial Park. <br />6) East Race Park. <br />7) Pier Park. <br />8) Civic Center Area. <br />9) East Race :(Jefferson to North of Hydraulic Ave.). <br />10) Northside Boulevard Trail from River Gate to <br />St. Louis Street. <br />11) Dam and Fish Ladder Repair. <br />12) Lock Alternates. <br />Mr. Lennon gave a brief discussion of the above and outlined <br />that the Civic Center is not our responsibility. The first <br />two items are, and possibly the additional funding of the <br />Bicentennial Park -- Disposition Parcel No. 1 -1 which has been <br />sold nd designated to us. Our concern is from Monroe to La- <br />Salle Motion was requested to receive this report, as noted <br />above <br />Mr. Wilggins made the motion that the above report be received, <br />secon ed by Mr. Wade and unanimously carried. <br />- 4 - <br />
