Wieger, President of the Union; Leon L. Stein, Vice- <br /> John Broden President of the Union; David A. VanDeWielle, Federico Rodrieguez, Ed <br /> Fourth District Hernandez, Scott Webber, and Joseph V. Simeri, Chief Spokesperson for the <br /> Union. <br /> David Varner <br /> Fifth District The City of South Bend was represented by a joint team representing the <br /> Board of Public Safety and the South Bend Common Council. Its members <br /> Thomas Zakrzewski were Roland Kelly, Council President; Councilmember Steve Luecke, Kevin <br /> Sixth District Horton, City Controller, Thomas Bodnar, Attorney to the Board of Public <br /> Safety,and myself as City Spokesperson. <br /> Sean Coleman The overall package meets the objective established this spring by Chief <br /> At Large l g obj ,sP g y <br /> Luther Taylor and his staff, namely to make the department's number one <br /> John Hosinski commitment,the Fire Department personnel <br /> At Large The salary ordinance establishes salary classifications for calendar years <br /> Cleo Washington 1997 through the year 2000 that are competitive with other fire departments. In <br /> At Large order to properly and fairly address the pension base, both Teams negotiated to <br /> convert 200.00 each year from the Firefighters clothing allowance into the <br /> Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand pension base in the last year. The ordinance also establishes speciality pays for <br /> Council Attorney the City's three (3) Special Response Teams, namely the Hazardous Materials <br /> Response Team, the Swiftwater Rescue Team, and the Tactical Rescue Team; <br /> as well as the medical specialties of First Responder, EMT, AEMT, Reserve <br /> Paramedic, and Paramedic. In addition to other monetary fringe benefits <br /> established,the City will establish a deferred compensation program whereby it <br /> will match $ .50 on the dollar for the first $ 100.00 deferred by a Firefighter, <br /> and will match dollar for dollar up to $ 300.00 for every dollar deferred by a <br /> Firefighter. <br />
