P IGRESS REPORTS (Cont'd) 4) Marilyn Brown Property: MARILYN BROWN PROPERTY, R -66 Mr. Lennon said we are pleased to announce that the groundbreaking has taken place on the Marilyn Brown property immediately in front of the St. Joseph Bank & Trust Company. Major construction should begin by November 20, 1973. 5) Update on Dan Clark Property: DAN CLARK PROPERTY STATUS, R -66 Demolition Contract No. 34 was awarded to Jackson Wrecking Company, Rochester, Indiana, which includes the demolition of the Dan Clark property. Notice to proceed was issued October 18, 1973. Extermina- tion services will begin immediately. This is normal procedure for all buildings, prior to demolition. 6) Postal Islands: POSTAL ISLANDS APPROVED, R -66 Mr. Lennon advised the U.S. Postal Service de- livered to Traffic Division the request to put in, at their expense, two islands on Michigan Street and turns on St. Joseph, and they want to put one on Monroe Street and Western Avenue. We suggested this be done when designing it. It was not done. They will remove a small por- tion of the sidewalk and put ramps down for paraplegics. We recommend approval, subject to approval of the Traffic Division, for this work at the post office, which will be at their ex- pense. On motion by Mr. Chenney, seconded by Mr. Wiggins and unanimously.carried, the above request was approved, subject to approval of Traffic Division. 7) Wyman's Update: WYMAN'S UPDATE, R -66 President Helmen commended Bill Slabaugh, Re- development Engineer, and Al Levy, Water Works Department employee, who assisted the two men who were seriously injured in the explosion of the Wyman's building, and the excellent way they performed under adverse conditions. Mr. Ed Bauer, Assistant Director of Planning, gave an extensive status report on the Wyman's building. - 13 -
