7. P
a
S REPORTS
R -66 Project:
1) Retailers' signs existing within the confines of RETAILERS' SIGNS,
Phase III, R -66: R -66
2)
3)
Mr. Lennon advised that many of the existing signs
of retailers are in conflict with the proposed
canopies. Mr. Edwin Bauer has sent notices to all
affected retailers to either discontinue or relocate
subject signs, all in accordance with City ordinances.
Baer's Home Outfitters, Carson Shoes and Macri's
Watch Repair overhang signs are in conflict with the
canopies. It appears only these three are crucial.
Notices were also sent to Public Finance Company,
Pittsburgh Paints, Mahowald's, Spiegel Catalog
Order Sales, and the Sewing Center. There is a
possibility that the Dainty Maid Bake Shop sign will
have to be adjusted higher.
Theater marquees, as such, are exempt from the sign
ordinance. The canopies were designed not to inter-
fere with theater marquees. These come before the
Sign Committee.
Blue Note Lounge:
Earlier the Blue Note Lounge had been notified to
vacate by September 14, 1973. The attorney, re-
presenting the interests of the ownership, just
prior to that date requested an additional thirty
(30) days within which to consummate business trans-
actions.
Mr. Charles A. Sweeney, Jr., Commission Legal
Counsel, filed a suit for ejectment on September
24. We can file an Affidavit for Immediate Posses -
ion and have a hearing on the right to possession
of the structure on five (5) days' notice. In
holding off of the filing of the Affidavit gives
the clients the thirty (30) days they requested.
We will be taking possession of the building by
October 30. We will be paying for their moving
expenses.
S. S. Kresge Company:
Mr. Lennon advised we received letter dated
October 10, 1973 from Kresge's Troy office, which
is based on our letter to them of September 26
regarding various deficiencies in the overall build -
components. They will respond to the rehabilitation
in the near future.
- 12 -
BLUE NOTE LOUNGE
S. S. KRESGE COMPANY
