Model Cities Code Enforcement Program Contract, E -6: CONTRACT APPROVED <br />Authorization was requested to enter into a contract With the FOR MODEL CITIES <br />City of South Bend for the Model Cities Code Enforcement Program, CODE ENFORCEMENT <br />E -6, subject to the approval of Legal Counsel and Executive Dir- PROGRAM, E -6 <br />ector, not to exceed $208,771 - -all Model Cities money. <br />Mr. Le non advised this will allow us to go into an area that <br />has not been funded by the Federal Government. It is being <br />picked up by the Model Cities Program - -same as Merry Avenue. <br />On mot on by Mr. Wiggins, seconded by Mr. Chenney and unani- <br />mously carried, the above contract was approved, not to exceed <br />$208,7 1, subject to Legal Counsel and Executive Director ap- <br />proval <br />1. Shilts, Graves & Associates Inc.: Authorization was SHILTS, GRAVES & <br />requested for this firm to make the two soil borings in LaSalle ASSOCIATES, INC. <br />Park near Beck's Lake to determine the condition of the soil APPROVED FOR SOIL <br />under the proposed Beck's Lake sewer, R -57, in an amount not BORINGS, R -57 <br />to exc ed $1,000.00. <br />The bo ings are for a proposed water retention basin and out - <br />fall aid will be power -auger borings. The charge for this type <br />of borings is $4.25 per foot, or $60.00 per hour, plus $25.00 <br />for mobilization and move -in. They can furnish a complete re- <br />port o e week after starting the borings. <br />The Fe eral requirement is that we; separate all sanitary and <br />storm ewers in R -57. Outfall of Beck's Lake went into a <br />combin d sewer. The borings are not to exceed 40 feet. $35,000 <br />is bud eted to separate the two sewers. We are closing out the <br />projec and must conform with the state requirements. <br />On motion by Mr. Wiggins, seconded by Mr. Wade and unanimously <br />carrie , Shilts, Graves & Associates, Inc. were authorized to <br />procee with the above work, not to exceed $1,000.00. <br />m. Street Academy: Authorization was requested for the <br />Street Academy to use the vacant land beyond the Library for <br />Open House on September 1, 1973, and are to take care of the <br />property now and clean up after use. This is vacant land north <br />of the Public Library and Mr. Lennon said we foresee no problems. <br />We will request letter of indemnification for our Department. <br />On motion by Mr. Chenney, seconded by Mr. Wiggins and unani- <br />mously carried, the Open House on September 1, 1973 was author- <br />ized for the Street Academy. <br />n.
