6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont'd <br />d. Contract A, B, C and D: This Contract is for <br />site improvements in the Northeast Neighborhood Code En- <br />forcement Project E -3. Commission authorized advertising <br />for bids in May 5 Commission Meeting, with the advertise- <br />ment appearing in The South Bend Tribune and Tri- County <br />News on May 12 and 19, 1972, with a bid opening date of <br />May 31, 1972, at 2:00 P.M., E.S.T., in the office of <br />the Department of Redevelopment. <br />The only bid received was from Rieth -Riley Construction <br />Company, as follows: <br />Mr. Tz <br />$247,( <br />Engi nE <br />wante( <br />we kn( <br />es ti mE <br />ntract Title Bid <br />"A" Grading - $ 106,425.50 <br />"B" Curbs 84,630.00 <br />"C" Bituminous Paving 179,557.50 <br />"D" Sidewalks 115,223.25 <br />Total Bld $ 485,836.25 <br />ylor advised we have a budget in the first year of <br />00.00. In reviewing the planning with the City <br />ering Department, there were certain things they <br />incorporated into the same set of plans, which <br />a would exceed the project budget. The engineer's <br />to for this work was $499,482.75. <br />Mr. Taylor read the letter of commitment from our City <br />Engineer, Mr. William J. Richardson, which confirms the <br />Civil City's obligation for the difference between the <br />cost of subject project improvement and our budgeted <br />amount. <br />Changes will be made to reduce some of the quantities. <br />No move funds will be committed from HUD other than <br />what we have available. We must be sure the funds will <br />be available for the City's share of the obligation. <br />On motion by Mr. Wiggins, seconded by Mr. Wade, Contract <br />A, B, C and D was awarded to Rieth -Riley Construction <br />Co., Inc., subject to Legal Counsel approval and HUD <br />concurrence, and proof of availability of City funds <br />to pa ) the difference between our budgeted amount and <br />the total cost.
