8. PROGRESS REPORTS CCont'd <br />into omplication and cannot treat the vault cover the <br />same aS the Mall construction. The other question is <br />"Who s going to pay for the vault treatment ?" <br />Mr. Taylor advised that some of the vault decks are in <br />very oor condition. <br />They ad several slides on how the access to the stores was <br />handled during the construction of the Mall. <br />President Helmen said he was very impressed with the Kala- <br />mazoo Mall when he had visited it and believed of all the <br />Malls visited, it was the most satisfactory. <br />Mr. T ylor said Kalamazoo has a very successful Mall and <br />it ha been increased one block this past year. He be- <br />lieve we have things going for us that Kalamazoo does <br />not h ve. <br />b. St. Joseph County'Purchase of Property: Mr. <br />Taylor advised that St. Joseph County will be getting <br />toget er an Agreement for Purchase and Deed which will be <br />ready for the next Commission Meeting. It also involves <br />a pie a of land along the Tower which we are going to <br />quit claim to them in order-to avoid any title problems. <br />Tower will take over the responsibility of maintaining <br />same. 1.48 feet in front; 1.42 feet in back. <br />c Business Relocation, R -66: Mr. Paul E. Becher, <br />Business Relocation Director's report, consisted of <br />claim from three business concerns: two moving expense <br />claim totalling $15,486.50, one direct loss of property <br />claim for $565.82 and one claim for payment in lieu of <br />movind expenses in amount of $10,000.00. <br />All relocation claims are nnw being processed on the <br />basis of the Uniform Relocation Act of 1970. Claims filed <br />by business concerns which wr re displaced after January <br />2, 19 l must be reviewed to determine if the Uniform Re- <br />location Act entitles them to benefits in addition to what <br />has already been dispersed to them. <br />d Downtown Rehabilitation Report, R -66: Mr. Edwin, <br />R.
