NEW BUSINESS (Copt -d <br />Flood Control Funds,-R -66 Mr. Barbe advised we APPLICATION SUBMITTAL <br />have been notified by the Indiana Department of Natural FOR FLOOD CONTROL FUNDS <br />Resources about the flood control plan. We must excavate AUTHORIZED, R -66 <br />some of the river bank, both north and south of the Colfax <br />brid e. Commission authority was requested to prepare an <br />appl cation to submit to HUD for flood control monies for <br />this item. The basic premise.`is that the work we are doing <br />along the river bank is obstructing the flood control. In <br />order to compensate for this upstream, they are asking we <br />exca ate both sides of the bridge. <br />Mr. labaugh advised they want us to excavate.out and along <br />the vall to the bridge opening, and to match existing open- <br />ing cf the size as the bridge. The other stipulation is <br />that we do not cause any turbulence -- designed to' protect <br />the ridge foundations. He advised this would cost .approxi- <br />mate y less than $5,000 - -our share is 10 %. More than dredging <br />is i volved. We do not know how much roadway there is, south <br />of C lfax. The dredging will be north of the .old, Mill'build= <br />ing nd will not affect it.
