OLD <br />BUSINESS (Cont'd <br />consensu of opinion pertaining to the question, "Are <br />you in favor of east -west streets cut through at two <br />places: Jefferson,Boulevard and Washington Street ?" <br />Mr. King stated the indication was of almost unanimous <br />interest for the cut - throughs, with the vote taken as <br />follows on the above question: <br />25 Yes <br />2 No <br />4 Abstain <br />Mr. King also advised a petition was circulated to <br />the Downtown businessmen, with 51,s- ignatures, which <br />is also attached to the above communication, which <br />states: <br />"We believe some form of limited: access to the <br />central mall is essential by, perhaps, a bus <br />route down the center of the`mall.to expose the <br />thousands of bus riders to the easiest access <br />to all shops and buildings, also the use of two <br />slow moving vehicular lanes for pedestrian pick <br />up and'drop off, and some form of limited parking <br />still leaving ample room for"�th-e beautification <br />of the mall. We feel this.is essential if the <br />core area is not to be stifled. <br />Mr. Wiggins moved that the above be taken under advise- <br />ment for action soon. NEW BUSINESS <br />a. kddendum to Contract'124: Mr. Ashenfelter ADDENDUM NO. 4 <br />requested retroactive approval for an emergency measure TO CONTRACT 12 -A <br />taken over the weekend for cleanup and levelling of the <br />free standing South walls and an elevator shaft, as a <br />result of a fire October 5th, to the Columbia Storage <br />Warehouse Co., located at 406 South Columbia Street, <br />Parcel 260. <br />A care -in of the South wall occurred on September.28th <br />and Commission had given approval for partial demolition <br />in Commission meeting of October 4th, as Demolition <br />Contract 4o. 19, to be designated as an addendum to an <br />existinVs ontract with the successful bidder.
