5. OLD BUSINESS (Cont'd consensu of opinion pertaining to the question, "Are you in favor of east -west streets cut through at two places: Jefferson,Boulevard and Washington Street ?" Mr. King stated the indication was of almost unanimous interest for the cut - throughs, with the vote taken as follows on the above question: 25 Yes 2 No 4 Abstain Mr. King also advised a petition was circulated to the Downtown businessmen, with 51,s- ignatures, which is also attached to the above communication, which states: "We believe some form of limited: access to the central mall is essential by, perhaps, a bus route down the center of the`mall.to expose the thousands of bus riders to the easiest access to all shops and buildings, also the use of two slow moving vehicular lanes for pedestrian pick up and'drop off, and some form of limited parking still leaving ample room for"�th-e beautification of the mall. We feel this.is essential if the core area is not to be stifled. Mr. Wiggins moved that the above be taken under advise- ment for action soon. NEW BUSINESS a. kddendum to Contract'124: Mr. Ashenfelter ADDENDUM NO. 4 requested retroactive approval for an emergency measure TO CONTRACT 12 -A taken over the weekend for cleanup and levelling of the free standing South walls and an elevator shaft, as a result of a fire October 5th, to the Columbia Storage Warehouse Co., located at 406 South Columbia Street, Parcel 260. A care -in of the South wall occurred on September.28th and Commission had given approval for partial demolition in Commission meeting of October 4th, as Demolition Contract 4o. 19, to be designated as an addendum to an existinVs ontract with the successful bidder.
