<br /> <br /> <br />V.Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Mr. Mullins made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular Board meeting held on <br />January 21, 2008 and February 4, 2008 special meeting as mailed. Mr. Goodrich asked <br />that the January 21, 2008 minutes be revised to reflect that he did not make a motion to <br />approve the arborist licenses since he was absent. Mr. Carleton said he would note the <br /> <br />change in the minutes. The motion was seconded by Dr. Kelly and approved. <br /> <br /> <br />VI.Approval of Maintenance Vouchers <br /> <br /> A motion was made by Mr. Mullins to approve maintenance vouchers for totaling <br /> $791,066.78. It was seconded by Dr. Kelly. There being no further discussion, the <br /> motion was passed. <br /> <br /> <br />VII.Business of the Director of Parks and Recreation <br /> <br /> <br />1.Director St. Clair reported that the Howard Park Ice Rink is running, but there is a six <br />foot wide section that won’t freeze due to leaks in the piping under the slab. If the <br />ambient temperature is cold enough, ice can be laid in the area, but the refrigeration isn’t <br />sufficient to freeze it otherwise. It will have to be repaired after the season. <br /> <br />2.The Mayor’s State of the City address has been postponed until March 3. It will be at the <br />Century Center at 6 pm. <br /> <br />3.Director St. Clair thanked Mr. John Murphy, acting Controller, for his work in the interim. <br /> He was very good to work with and he thanked him for his leadership. <br /> <br />4.He introduced Mr. Richard Payton, the new Development Director for the department. <br />Mr. Payton is the former executive director of the Boy’s and Girl’s Club for 10 years. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />VIII.Comments by the Recreation Director <br /> <br /> <br />1.Ms. O’Connor reported that attendance is down at the ice rink due to the maintenance <br />problems. <br /> <br />2.The Daddy-Daughter Dance is tomorrow night at the Century Center. 811 have signed up <br />to date. <br /> <br />3.The Howard Park Senior Center is sponsoring a trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee on April 28. <br /> <br />4.The Mayor’s Afterschool program has had 13,936 youth participate in January. <br /> <br />5.Softball registration began January 14. <br /> <br />6.Recreation staff has been attending meetings regarding the Kroc Center. Ms. O’Connor, <br />Cynthia Taylor and Maurice Scott have been serving on the program committee. <br /> <br /> <br />IX.Comments by the Golf Operations Director <br />Mr. Goodrich complimented Mr. Mannen on his presentation. He thought it was <br />excellent. <br /> <br />1.Mr. Nowacki requested that the Board approve the advertising for chemical and fertilizer <br />bids. Dr. Kelly made a motion to approve the request. Mr. Mullins seconded the motion <br />and it was passed. <br /> <br />2.Tree removal at the golf courses has been completed by the tree crew.
