Since the news media has <br />reported tha the minimum cost range for new houses in LaSalle <br />Park would b approximately $13,500, the Commission reaffirmed <br />that a full ange of housing will be permitted provided thaVpro- <br />posed housinj meets all code requirements and objectives of the <br />project. Wi h many new techniques and approaches being tried <br />and successf lly brought to fruition in the building construction, <br />the Commission suggested that a meeting could be held with ap- <br />propriate ci y officials, contractors, and unions to investigate <br />methods of c nstruction of low cost housing. The staff was <br />asked to inv stigate the possibility of establishing a meeting <br />for this pur ose. <br />6. NEW BUSINESS <br />a. Resolution 223 received Commission approval on motion by <br />Mr. Kompar, econded by Rev. Kirk, and authorizes staff to adver- RESOLUTION 223 <br />tise for out ide financing, identified as Third Series C, LaSalle LASALLE PARK <br />Park Project R -57, on June 25, 1968, and to receive and open PROJECT, R -57 <br />bids on July 9, 1968. <br />b. The 3taff presented two irremovable fixture appraisal <br />proposals fo the Central Downtown Project, R -66, for Commission <br />consideratio : (1) Development Services Inc., of Detroit and <br />(2) S. M. Di and Associates, Inc. of Grand Rapids. This type <br />of professio al service requires the appraiser to determine if <br />the fixture, such as air conditioner, heating plants, etc., is <br />tenant owned or a part of the real estate, and appraise same. <br />It is the stiff's recommendation to award the contract to S. M. <br />Dix and Asso iates because of successful completion of programs <br />in other cities with many communities using their services sev- <br />eral times. The Commission accepted the staff's recommendation <br />and upon motion by Mr. Helmen, seconded by Rev. Kirk, awarded <br />the contract to S. M. Dix and Associates, Inc., at the proposed <br />fee which is within budget limitation. It was noted that this <br />company also did the preliminary study for this appraisal work <br />during the Survey and Planning stage. <br />c. Beca se of the rapid weed growth in the LaSalle Park <br />Project, R-57, the staff has received two proposals for weed <br />control. Tha Commission accepted the staff's recommendation to <br />accept the D & H Landscaping and Garden Center proposal to con- <br />trol weeds oi certain specified lots for a year by spraying a <br />chemical, at a cost of 1/2� per square foot, with the under- <br />standing that work would commence Saturday, June 22, 1968, and <br />reimbursement to be made from the Property Management proceeds, <br />on motion by Mr. Kompar, seconded by Rev. Kirk. It has been <br />determined that approximately 600,000 square feet is to be <br />sprayed. <br />d. The ommission accepted the request of the Clyde E. <br />Williams and Associates firm, engineers for the Chapin Street <br />-4- <br />S. M.
