It was noted that <br />the approved rate of computation for the original fee was to be <br />determined by the engineers standard curve for cost based on the <br />site improve ent construction, however since this work will be <br />below the mi imum level for fee computation, the Commission ap- <br />proved the a gineer's recommendation for a fee of $3,000 for <br />engineering 3ervices in connection with the subject intersection <br />on motion by Rev. Kirk, seconded by Mr. Helmen. <br />e. In order to incorporate the Amendatory Application re- <br />quirements ii the current contracts for the Abstract and Title <br />Corp. of South Bend and the Abstract and Title Co. of St. Jo- <br />seph County, the Commission approved the execution of the two <br />addenda, not to exceed $17,000 each based upon the same unit <br />cost of the riginal contracts, in connection with the LaSalle <br />Park Project, R -57, on motion by Mr. Kompar, seconded by Mr. <br />Helmen. <br />f. Four rehabilitation grants for parcels identified as <br />1 -32, 33 -10, 45 -7 and 45 -18 in the LaSalle Park Project, R -57, <br />received Commission approval on motion by Mr. Helmen, seconded <br />by Rev. Kirk These federal grants provide up to $1,500 to <br />bring the property up to the required project standard. To date <br />these grants have enabled approximately 40 property owners to <br />rehabilitate their homes. <br />g. As m ntioned earlier in the meeting not all lots are to <br />be sprayed f r weed control in the LaSalle Park Project, R -57. <br />Last year may of the lots were seeded in accordance with the <br />Demolition C ntract No. 1 with Woodruff and Sons, Inc. Many of <br />these lots n w require cutting. The staff has discussed this <br />situation with appropriate LaSalle Center personnel to determine <br />if area yout s are available for this kind of work. The Com- <br />mission acce ted the staff's recommendation to hire a group of <br />young people to take care of the previously seeded lots, subject <br />to legal cou sel review of the liability insurance policy <br />for the prof ct area, with the rate of compensation to be nego- <br />tiated but n t to exceed the following: $1.25 per hour with a <br />team captain hired for $1.40 per hour and a supervisor for $1.75 <br />per hour, on motion by Mr. Helmen, seconded by Mr. Kompar. An <br />appropriate contract will be executed with the LaSalle Park Cen- <br />ter which is la part of the Office of Equal Opportunity. <br />h. The iext regular meeting of the Redevelopment Commission <br />will be at 1):30 A. M., July 3, 1968, because of the holiday on <br />the regular neeting date, in the office of the Redevelopment De- <br />partment.
