<br />the Chic go office, as the first submission included only one
<br />acquisition appraisal, and by law three appraisals are required.
<br />e. The Redevelopment Department office rental lease expires RENEGOTIATION
<br />April 1, 1967, and Mr. Kompar has agreed to renegotiate for office. FOR-OFFICE
<br />space, The rent per month has been $434.50 from Sheehan's,- the
<br />proprietor of the LaSalle West Building.
<br />f. In an urban renewal project such as the Central Core, R -66,
<br />where many businesses will be displaced, it is a federal requirement
<br />to secure an irremovable fixtures appraisal to be conducted simul-
<br />taneousl..with the three acquisition appraisals. Many commercial
<br />properties, such as doctors' offices, have this problem when con -
<br />fronting relocation. It is recommended that preparation for this
<br />' appraisa service begin in the planning stage. The Commission
<br />approved the motion by Mr. Kompar, seconded by Mr. Chenney, that a
<br />contract be negotiated with the S. M. Dix and Associates, Inc. of
<br />Grand Ra ids, Michigan, for preliminary acquisition and relocation
<br />assistance to run concurrent with the first acquisition appraisal.
<br />!g. The Commission approved the investment of $52,000 in. U. S.
<br />Treasury Bills, from the Project Expenditures Account, R -57, for
<br />a period of three months, upon the motion by Mr. Chenney, seconded
<br />by Mr. K mpar.
<br />h. The staff received Commission approval to advertise in the
<br />South Be rd Tribune on Sunday, February 26, 1967, for the purpose of
<br />finding. he whereabouts of 21 families, relocated from the Chapin
<br />Street Project,-R49, wbo are eligible to receive relocation adjust-
<br />ment payments, upon the motion by Mr.. Chenney, seconded by Mr. Kompar.
<br />The adve tisement is.a follow up to certified letters, which requested
<br />return receipts, recently sent to 83 eligible recipients.
<br />i, The staff and planning consultant of the Central Core
<br />Project, -66, have been meeting regularly with the City Engineer
<br />in order to coordinate thinking in relation to the inn.erbelt.and
<br />thoroughfare system.. Upon staff recommendation, the.Commiss'ion
<br />confirmed approval of a letter dated:February 8, 1967, from -the.
<br />Redevelop ent Department to Mr. Lloyd Taylor, City.Engineer, -which
