In answer to questions
from residents, the lots will be purchased, enlarged, and then
resold. However, residents of the project area will be given
first priority for the resale of land. Upon discussion of having
a policy in writing for this project, the Commissioners asked
Mr. Chong to confer with legal counsel, 'Bruce Hammerschmidt, to
see about the possibility of adopting a resolution.
Mr. William Morris asked whether the Redevelopment Department
has formally notified residents not to make improvements to their
homes. It was answered that the Department has not formally
told residents not to make any improvements but has informed
residents on contact, to postpone any but urgent improvements.
Mr. Morris stressed the viewpoint that if properties were improved,
appraisers would place higher values to the ownerst benefit. The
Redevelopment Department felt its suggestions to be in the bes
interest cf the residents based on past experience.
Mr. Scott reported to the-Commission- that the most common question
raised wi h the Relocation Staff is when the project will be started.
-5-
