Because of the length of the Housing Ordinance, the Commission could not act upon
its acce tance until time allowed for a. thorough reading. It was determined that at
their next regular meeting they would discuss its contents, present their views, and
decide on its acceptance.
6. RESOLUTION
Thereupon the Commissioners, upon motion duly made, seconded, and unanimously
carried, adopted a resolution directing the Staff of the Commission to prepare re-
development studies of the Sample Street Project Area. This resolution is hereby
attached and made a part of these minutes.
7. PROGRESS REPORT ON SAMPLE STREET AREA
Distribu ed to the Commissioners were booklets entitled Urban Renewal Program
for Soutli Bend.
A discussion was then held on the progress of the Sample Street Area, and
Mr. Sucher thought the Survey & Planning Application would be ready for the
Federal Government by July 1. At present we are awaiting information from the
City Engineer and the Building Commissioner. After this information is received,
and appl Ication made, there will then be a wait of approximately 1 - 2 months
before f deral approval is made authorizing the use of its funds.
However, there will still be a question as to the availability of funds. For the first
time in rban Renewal, the demand for funds is greater than the supply. There have
been 500 redevelopment projects started to date.
A short
the May
bring a
general
experie
the Cori
MEET
.iscussion was then held on a Citizens Advisory Council to be appointed by
r. However, it was thought it might prove more advantageous for us to
efinite problem to the individual group concerned, rather than to have a
,urpose . Citizens Advisory Council. Some members have had unfavorable
-es with such groups. No action will be taken without prior approval by
nis sion.
ADJOURNED:
1
Koczan, Pr si ent My/. Clyde E. Williams, Sr., Secretary
