Al so, Mr. Sucher will have a general discussion of the <br />3,udget contents with Miss Guthrie, Executive Director of the South Bend <br />mina Association. <br />moved that the estimated 1959 Budget be approved, Mr. Louis seconded <br />were in favor. <br />OF SECRETARY <br />The follo ing member was nominated and unanimously elected to the Caffice of <br />Secretary replacing Mr. Adair, who has resigned from the Commission: <br />Clyde Williams, Sr. <br />4. HIRING OF ASSISTANT DIRECTOR <br />Mr. Sucher, along with Mr. Place and Mr. Louis, had previously interviewed an <br />applicant, namely, Mr. James H. Neidigh of Painesville, Ohio, whose qualifica- <br />tions and background made his application far superior to all others received. <br />After a br of discussion of his abilities and character, plus a review of all <br />correspondence regarding Mr. Neidigh, including his application and references, <br />a motion was made by Mr. Louis that Mr. Neidigh be appointed to the Redevelopment <br />Commission Staff in the capacity of Assistant Renewal Director. The motion was <br />seconded by Mr. Williams, and it was unanimously carried. The Commission <br />determined his yearly salary would be $8, 500, and his starting date would be the <br />latter half of July of this year. <br />5. DISCUlSSION OF HOUSING ORDINANCE <br />A Housing Ordinance was presented by Mr. Sucher, which Mr. Lane, Building <br />Commissioner, and he had just recently revised. This Ordinance met all the <br />requirements of the federal agency. It also ties in with the other local codes, <br />such as th se of the Fire Department, Garbage Department, etc. Items such as <br />heating eq 'pment, minimum sleeping quarters, basic plumbing equipment, etc., <br />were considered important factors in the revised Ordinance, and were brought <br />up to defi ite standards. A comparison was also given between the existing and <br />proposed Housing Code. <br />3 <br />
