South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Rescheduled Regular Meeting -November 2, 2007
6. NEW BUSINESS
A. Public Hearing
(7) continued...
stay. I'd like to stay where we're located.
So, I'm hoping that will come to bear. South
Bend has enough businesses that have left
and you've got people here who want to stay.
Now we have this cloud hanging over us---
we don't know if we're staying, going, what?
So, like I said, I'll be back.
MR. BILL EAGAN: 3402 Scarlet Maple Ct.
I have a question and an observation. First,
one thing, I looked around the ceiling here
and all I see is dollar signs. I had to check to
make sure I wasn't standing on the
(unintelli i.~ bled That's where all the money
seems to go. What is going to be the
economic impact after spending all this
money? That's my question. Observation.
Going back a ways before all of you were
involved with the politics of the area there
was Coveleski Stadium. The plan there was
a magnificent thing; it was going to revitalize
South Bend... all the rest of it. Now, some
years ago I was a member of the budget
committee. And then, and it's still true, as a
South Bend taxpayer. We're still paying off
the bond on Coveleski Stadium. And as far
as I've been able to determine, there's almost
no money going to the city from that
operation. Can we expect that same thing
here?
MR. MEDHURST: They're democrats!
MR. LEONE: I believe the bonds for
Coveleski are now paid off. They've been
paid off for several years.
53
