South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Rescheduled Regular Meeting -November 2, 2007
6. NEW BUSINESS
A. Public Hearing
(7) continued...
planning area, so that you can be planned for
and we can have some communication.
Because this area has not been in a planning
area, we really haven't had a lot of planning
resources for this area or haven't made plans
for this area. Now that we are going through
some planning processes, we actively hope to
involve the neighbors, involve the
community, involve other groups in the
planning process. Maybe to go back a
question or two, we anticipate bringing in
HOK, an architecture firm, here in a couple
of weeks. There will be ample notice and
ample time to get notice out to the neighbors,
to the affected parties, to interested parties to
bring you in at various times to the planning
process, to get input, to get feedback. The
church on Taylor Street, we see that as a
powerful resource in that area, where parking
will be an issue, so we need to hear your
comments on parking. You as a neighbor on
William Street. Obviously you will be the
last house on William Street, so we need to
accommodate you. The commercial
businesses on the corner---longstanding
businesses---we don't see any reason they
should be moved out of the neighborhood.
It'll be a very open, transparent process that
will take some time. We'll move through
methodically and we would like your input at
every step of the process.
MS. RICHEY: I have one last comment.
I'm all for progress, but I'm also for small
businesses. We've been a part of this
community for a long time and I' d like to
52
