South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Rescheduled Regular Meeting -November 2, 2007
6. NEW BUSINESS
A. Public Hearing
(7) continued...
OK? I don't want to cry, but I could. We
have worked hard at this. It is a part of us
that you are talking about today. But we are
very uncertain about where we are. I would
really like some clarification about why we
don't fall on this list, but what list are we on?
MR. SCHALLIOL: I would like to answer
that. First, the list of one to twenty-one are
properties that we are pretty sure we have an
interest in acquiring now or in the future.
Since you aren't on that list, it means we
don't have an interest in acquiring your
property at this point in time, or probably,
actually, have no interest in acquiring your
property. It's a property that fits into the
neighborhood well. The addition of the area
and the closing of this development area
allows for funds, resources and activities to
occur in this area that can only be used in a
development area. Bringing this two-block
area into a development area offers funds that
would not have otherwise been available for
the area. Now, public funds can be used for
infrastructure improvements, etc.
JAWORSKI: I reside at 415 S. William St.
I'm the only house left on William St. beside
Richey's Radiator on the corner. We haven't
been informed of much of anything. And,
being what I hear regarding Coveleski, I'm
quite interested in knowing what you are
planning on doing with our property.
MR. SCHALLIOL: You aren't on the
acquisition list, but you are being put into the
51
