South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Rescheduled Regular Meeting -November 2, 2007
6. NEW BUSINESS
A. Public Hearing
(7) continued...
in their suits and their appointees and
their... you stand up there, and how many
people there have met a payroll? How many
are currently meeting a payroll? A couple,
three. I notice the gentleman on the end is
the only one who speaks up here. The rest of
you people are mute. I was vice president of
the Indiana Association of Realtors for four
years. Fourteen thousand people. I chaired
an awful lot of meetings. I hear one person
asking all the questions. Everybody else
smiling. Thank you.
MS. PAM RICHEY: We own a business at
416 W. Western, catty corner from Gates on
the corner of Western and William. We have
been in South Bend since 1916. We have
relocated twice due to redevelopment
downtown. We're happy where we're at. I
was concerned. I called Mr. Schalliol. He
says we are not on the acquisition list, but I
might add that I think that means "yet."
We' d like to stay where we're at. I' m here
because I'm concerned about this plan. It
affects several businesses next to us, if they
acquire all three of us. And, so, I'm just here
to let you know that I'm going to be
attending the meetings.
REV. ERSKINE JONES: I'm the pastor of
Sweet Home Baptist Church. I called Mr.
Schalliol because we were not included in the
acquisition and my problem is, we have a
parking lot right next to the church. We have
two services already. We've only been OK'd
for like 21 parking spaces. Taylor St. has no
39
